Description
Heavy Bedouin silver pendant decorated with filigree silver on solid silver background. The inset stone that appears as carnelian is decorated with a gazelle or a stylized dragon incised in an intaglio technique. The image of stylized dragon appears clearly on high magnification and is extremely rare, if not unique. A dragon representation, (even if stylized) in Middle East cultures is practically non-existent and appears borrowed from Far East cultures. The carnelian stone appears antique and of highest quality without inclusions. It appears similar to the ancient Mesopotamian seals. The inset stone was not examined outside of the ring. The silver has no mark for its fineness. Weight: 97.3 gm.
